A Taste of South Africa: An Exclusive Wine Dinner at Sedona

There are dinners you enjoy, and then there are dinners that give you something to talk about long after the last glass has been poured.

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, Sedona Restaurant Bar in Bethany Beach will host an intimate evening centered around South African wine, creative cuisine, and the opportunity to hear directly from the person behind the wines.

A Taste of South Africa will feature Riaan Möller, Head Winemaker of MAN Family Wines, for a private four-course wine dinner pairing four MAN Family Wines with four specially selected courses from the Sedona kitchen. The evening begins at 5:00 PM, with only 58 seats available.

It is an evening designed for people who enjoy great food and wine—but also enjoy discovering something new.

An Evening Built Around the Wine

Wine dinners are at their best when the wine and food aren't simply served alongside one another, but are intentionally brought together.

That's the idea behind A Taste of South Africa.

Each course has been selected to complement a specific MAN Family Wine, creating four different pairings throughout the evening. Guests will also have the opportunity to hear from Riaan Möller, giving the dinner a personal connection to the wines being poured.

MAN Family Wines brings the South African side of the experience, while Sedona brings its creative American cuisine and hospitality to the table.

Sedona has been part of the Bethany Beach dining scene since 1993, with a menu built around creative cuisine, fresh ingredients, craft cocktails, fine wine and house-made desserts.

For one evening, those traditions meet South African winemaking.

The First Course: Ahi Tuna Wontons & Chenin Blanc

The evening begins with one of Sedona's signature starters: Ahi Tuna Wontons.

Sesame-seared ahi tuna is served with seaweed salad and Asian slaw on a crisp wonton, creating a combination of fresh, savory and crunchy elements.

The dish will be paired with MAN Free-Run Steen Chenin Blanc, a South African Chenin Blanc selected specifically for the first course.

It's a bright way to begin the dinner and an introduction to the style of pairing guests can expect throughout the evening.

The Second Course: Jumbo Lump Crab Cake & Sauvignon Blanc

The second course brings the flavors of the Mid-Atlantic together with a wine from South Africa.

Guests will enjoy a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with Summer Corn & Jalapeño Slaw, paired with MAN Warrelwind Sauvignon Blanc.

The crab cake highlights one of the ingredients most closely associated with the coastal dining experience around Bethany Beach, while the corn and jalapeño slaw add sweetness, freshness and a little heat.

The Sauvignon Blanc provides the wine component for the second pairing.

It's a pairing that brings two very different places together—Delaware's coastal food culture and South African winemaking.

The Third Course: Pan Seared Duck Breast & Pinotage

For the third course, the evening moves into richer territory.

Sedona's Pan Seared Duck Breast with Parmesan Risotto will be paired with MAN Bosstok Pinotage.

The duck is rich and tender, finished with a blueberry red wine reduction and served with creamy Parmesan risotto and sautéed vegetables.

Pinotage is particularly appropriate for this point in the dinner, as the wine brings the South African identity of the evening into sharper focus.

This is where the dinner begins to transition from the lighter opening courses into deeper, more substantial flavors.

The Final Course: Garlic Peppercorn Filet Tips & Cabernet Sauvignon

The evening concludes with a bold final pairing.

Garlic Peppercorn Filet Tips with Hand-Cut Old Bay Fries will be served with MAN Ou Kalant Cabernet Sauvignon.

The filet tips are seasoned with garlic and peppercorn and paired with Sedona's hand-cut Old Bay fries. The MAN Cabernet Sauvignon completes the four-course progression with a wine selected to stand alongside the richer final course.

It's a fitting way to finish an evening that moves from crisp white wines and seafood into richer reds and beef.

Meet the Winemaker

One of the most distinctive parts of this dinner is the opportunity to meet Riaan Möller, Head Winemaker of MAN Family Wines.

Rather than simply tasting a wine from a bottle, guests will have the opportunity to hear directly from the winemaker behind the wines being served.

That adds another dimension to the evening.

You can taste a wine and enjoy it.

But understanding where it comes from, how it is made and the person responsible for creating it can make the experience much more memorable.

A Small Dinner by Design

A Taste of South Africa isn't being designed as a large, traditional restaurant event.

There are only 58 seats available.

That limited size allows the evening to remain intimate and gives guests the opportunity to experience the food, wine and conversation in a more personal setting.

For Sedona, that fits naturally with the atmosphere we've created in Bethany Beach.

Our dining room and cozy bar have always been places where people come together over dinner, wine and conversation. The entire Sedona menu is also available in the bar area, where guests can enjoy fine wine and cocktails in a more relaxed setting.

For this particular evening, however, the focus is on the four-course experience and the wines of MAN Family Wines.

Welcome Back, Bethany Beach: A New Season and New Reasons to Dine at Sedona

The pace of Bethany Beach changes when summer begins to wind down.

The crowds start to thin.

The streets become a little quieter.

The beach feels a little more peaceful.

And the people who live here year-round begin to settle back into the rhythm of the community.

At Sedona Restaurant Bar, we love this time of year.

The busy summer season brings incredible energy to Bethany Beach, but the off season gives us something equally special—the opportunity to welcome back our local guests and give everyone a little more time to enjoy dinner, cocktails, conversation, and the experience of being together.

And this season, we have some new reasons to come see us. And FREE PARKING.

A New Season Calls for a New Menu

Our latest menu brings together some familiar Sedona favorites along with new dishes designed for the changing season.

If you've been away for the summer, this is a great time to come back and see what's new.

One of the biggest additions is our Garlic Peppercorn Filet Mignon.

It's beautifully seasoned with a flavorful garlic peppercorn crust while keeping the center tender, served with creamy Parmesan mashed potatoes and our sautéed vegetable mix.

It's the kind of entrée that feels right for a relaxed fall evening.

Another new addition is our Pan Seared Duck Breast.

Rich and tender, the duck is finished with a blueberry red wine reduction that creates a beautiful balance between savory and sweet. It's served with creamy Parmesan risotto and our sautéed vegetable mix.

It's a dish that's a little different from the usual beach-town dinner—and exactly the kind of creative cuisine we've always enjoyed bringing to Bethany Beach.

Some Sedona Favorites Are Still Here

A new menu doesn't mean saying goodbye to the dishes our guests already love.

Our Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes remain a Maryland-inspired favorite, served with Champagne Butter, sautéed vegetables, and Corn Jalapeño Slaw.

Our Shrimp Pappardelle brings together jumbo shrimp, wide pappardelle pasta, and a creamy Tomato Basil Sauce.

And the Sedona Wagyu Burger remains a great choice when you're looking for something familiar but a little more elevated.

Of course, there are also the Ahi Tuna Wontons, Bacon Wrapped Dates, Jumbo Lump Crab Guacamole, Grilled Shrimp Cocktail, and our house-made Sweet Potato Biscuit Basket to start the evening.

The menu gives you plenty of reasons to come back more than once.

The Bar Is Still a Great Place to Begin

Fall in Bethany Beach is a wonderful time to settle into our cozy bar.

The pace is different.

There's time to sit back, order a cocktail, and actually enjoy the conversation.

Our craft cocktail menu gives you plenty of options depending on your mood.

Maybe it's an All Natural Orange Crush made with fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Maybe it's a Sedona Sangria.

A Spicy Mango Margarita.

A Classic Martini.

Or one of our richer fall choices, like the Maple Apple Old Fashioned, made with Bulleit Bourbon, maple apple simple syrup, muddled orange and black cherry, and Angostura bitters.

And if you're looking for something after dinner, the Espresso Martini, Irish Coffee, Sedona Coffee, or Tequila Coffeecan turn dessert into its own part of the evening.

Fall Is Made for Dessert

There's another reason we love the off season.

Dessert.

When the evening isn't about rushing back to the beach or fitting everything into a vacation schedule, there's something wonderful about lingering over the last course.

At Sedona, our desserts are made in house.

That includes Sedona Pecan Pie served warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle, Our Own Key Lime Pie, Darn Good Chocolate Cake with chocolate ganache and vanilla ice cream, Pina Colada Coconut Cake, and Blueberry Buckle Cake served warm with vanilla ice cream and fresh blueberry sauce.

Sometimes dinner really should end with dessert.

A Restaurant for Locals, Too

During the summer, Bethany Beach belongs to everyone.

Visitors arrive from all over to enjoy the beach, the boardwalk, the restaurants, and everything that makes this town special.

But when summer starts to fade, the local community comes back into focus.

That's something we appreciate.

Sedona has been part of Bethany Beach since 1993, and our goal has always been to create a place where locals and visitors can enjoy creative cuisine, craft cocktails, house-made desserts, and genuine hospitality.

For our local guests, we're not just hoping you'll visit once.

We want Sedona to become part of your regular dining routine.

A place for a Friday night dinner.

A place to meet friends for cocktails.

A place to celebrate an anniversary.

A place to bring family when they're visiting.

Or simply a place to go when you don't feel like cooking.

The Off Season Is the Perfect Time to Come Back

There's something different about dining in Bethany Beach after the summer rush.

Parking is a little easier.

The streets are quieter.

The beach is peaceful.

And dinner can feel a little more relaxed.

It's a great time to rediscover restaurants you already love—and try something new while you're here.

For us, that means welcoming familiar faces back through the door and introducing new guests to what's happening at Sedona.

Come See What's New

If it's been a while since you've visited, this is your invitation to come back.

Try the new Garlic Peppercorn Filet Mignon.

Order the Pan Seared Duck Breast.

Share a bottle of wine with friends.

Start with an All Natural Orange Crush at the cozy bar.

Finish with a warm slice of Sedona Pecan Pie and an Espresso Martini.

Or simply come in, sit down, and enjoy a great dinner without having anywhere else to be.

The summer crowds may be winding down, but there's still plenty happening at Sedona.

Welcome back, Bethany Beach.

We look forward to seeing our locals again, meeting new guests, and enjoying another season together.
